Last year, the Cedar Park Youth in Action Group of Free The Children teamed up with the Montreal MOBilizers to hold a Halloween for Hunger event (now called We Scare Hunger), collecting canned goods for a local food bank in Montreal.
We split up into teams and created 3 routes in the West Island – Lower Pointe-Claire, Kirkland and in Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Before the event, we went door-to-door handing out flyers to each household in our route to let them know what we were doing.
We went on the day before Halloween all dressed up in costumes and it was very successful! In total, together we collected 1130 items and $45, which we donated to the Welcome Hall Mission in Montreal!
