Dewson Street Public School Creates Change
Our school Me to We Club consisted of 35 students from Grades 5 and 6. The club members promoted the We Create Change penny drive by creating posters, making daily announcements and visiting classes to inform students and teachers about the issues underlying the campaign.
Each class in our school was challenged to collect enough pennies to fill at least one penny bag, if not two. Some classes filled more than five bags! Our school has roughly 580 students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. There are 28 classes in our school. As a school we collected 45.5 penny bags, which totaled $1125.
Our school community fully endorsed this action. We received many positive comments from students, parents, teachers and administration. This was a very successful campaign for our school!
