Give Where You Live

Free The Children was thrilled to launch our newest program yesterday morning in Vancouver BC. In partnership with TELUS, the Give Where You Live program will encourage youth to give back and positively contribute to their own communities.

The students of Britannia Secondary School gathered for a school-wide assembly where Craig and Marc Kielburger, co-founders of Free The Children, announced the program – including a speaking tour, workshop and course curriculum! Offered to high schools across British Columbia (and across Canada next year).

Two youth who are very passionate about giving back to their community—Chloe Noel and Lindsay Rideout from Argyle Secondary School—attended the launch to speak to their peers. In the fall, Chloe and Lindsay had shared how they would make a difference in their community on the TELUS for We Day website, and won $20,000 from TELUS, which will go to help expand Hope in Shadows, a local cause they care about.

Free The Children’s Give Where You Live speakers, Andrew and Alexandra, gave an incredible speech and workshop at the event, kicking off a speaking tour that will travel across BC in 2013 before expanding to the rest of Canada over the next three years.

Click here to read the official press release, which outlines the details of this exciting new program.
