London MOBilizers Create Change

Water for life. Here in Canada we never have to think about this concept. It is a part of our life that we simply have from birth, no questions asked. However, this is not the case in other parts of the world. For this reason, the London MOBilizers decided to go the extra mile and partner with RBC branches in our community to raise funds for We Create Change, providing people around the world with clean water for life. With the help of Joanne Haley and Mara Sutton, both RBC employees, we were able to coordinate a coin drive in our community.

The idea started as one branch raising funds for one day. However, Joanne believed we could do more. The two of us met with the RBC branch managers in London, Ontario and presented the idea of a one-day blitz across the city. With the assistance of Joanne, a big help on the RBC side of the campaign, we planned to have water jugs displayed and available for collection at London’s RBC branches on December 8. We also had our MOBilizers stationed at each location in order to educate people in our community on the campaign and its benefits, as well as the MOBilizer program. We are very thankful for all the support we received from the community, RBC, Culligan (for the donation of water jugs) and all of our wonderful MOBilizers.

The day was a great success! RBC employees also participated, donating $5 to dress down on the Friday and Saturday in order to support the campaign. We had a ton of support from our community on this initiative. We received many donations of penny rolls, spare change and cash for a total of 260 pounds in coins!! We have raised $260 in cash, but we’re not done yet! Six lives have been changed so far, and we hope to change more!
