Our funds come from many sources, but it is youth who are the backbone of the organization, providing 60 percent of Free The Children’s funding. Donations from foundations, corporations and adults contribute an increasing proportion of our funds and provide essential support to youth fundraising.
Two-thirds of all our spending goes into Adopt a Village programs overseas, funding projects like new schools, community gardens, and awareness workshops. Over a quarter goes into programs in North America that empower youth with leadership skills and opportunities to get engaged. What’s left, just nine percent of the total expenditure, covers all our administrative costs, from advertising to office supplies.
