Interesting fact:
Lauren spent a year teaching English in Taiwan and taught her kindergarten class to sing “Umbrella” (by Jay-Z and Rihanna) in English. She loves everything about Chinese culture and would be completely content eating dumplings for every meal, every day.
Before becoming a permanent member of the Free The Children family, Lauren worked as a media relations intern for We Day 2009. From there, she went on to work with Coca-Cola on the Olympic Torch Relay public affairs team. Lauren was thrilled at the opportunity to return to PR team in February 2010 where she can combine her passions for public relations, international development and working with youth.
Lauren graduated with an honours degree in political science and international relations from Laurier University in 2007 and a post-graduate certificate in public relations from Humber College in 2009. In between school, Lauren lived in Taiwan and travelled to a variety of countries in Asia including Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos.
Lauren hopes to continue travelling to a different place each year—next stop, Kenya!
