DIRECTORS OF CHANGE IS DIVIDED INTO THREE SECTIONS:

1. Students will be introduced to the concept of “human rights” followed by a brief history of human rights
movements and a review of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. |
Teacher-facilitated discussions will help students:
a) identify the issues faced by children who appear in the film
b) make connections between the issues and the upholding of basic human rights

3. Students identify an issue for further study and begin an inquiry-based project stimulated by questions raised from the film. Working in teams, students will conduct research into the issue and, combining skills from language arts, social studies and technology, write and design web-based issue-focused newspapers to inform and encourage a call to action. |
