The aim of the Directors of Change program is to inspire a new generation of socially engaged and globally aware young people. In order to make a positive impact on their world, youth need to develop the skills to analyze the problem, create a plan of action and set their plan in motion. With educational resources and technological tools, Directors of Change cultivates five life skills essential for young people taking social action: |
1. Creative thinking – Explorations of distinct cultures and ways of living pushes students to think from new perspectives.
2. Critical thinking – Participants analyze global social issues, brainstorm potential solutions and craft plans of action.
3. Communication/interpersonal skills – Collaborative projects, awareness-raising speeches and media strategies—it’s go time for budding young communicators.
4. Empathy – Students will view powerful footage depicting the challenges faced by impoverished communities around the world, inspiring empathy—and hopefully action.
5. Contribution – World-changing examples on screen and in-classroom discussions will motivate young people to action plan at the local and global level.
