Living in a small mud hut in Yomandu Village in Sierra Leone, Mrs. Ambrose takes care of her three orphaned grandchildren. With barely enough money to feed the family one main dinner meal each evening, Mrs. Ambrose was on the verge of removing the oldest girl from school to help her in the morning search for firewood. In the remote community of Wenjia in Gansu Province, China, many of its 10,000 inhabitants live on less than two dollars a day. A minority of the population can read and write, and most in the village have no access to proper health care, water and sanitation facilities. Read more |
Oloonkerin, located in Kenya’s Maasai Mara region, is an isolated community in a severely dry region, surrounded at a distance by hills and flatlands. The monetary amounts shown represent the average costs of Free The Children projects in the communities in which we work. In cases where donations exceed what is needed or local conditions prevent program implementation, Free The Children will redirect funds to similar activities to help people in need. If additional funding is required because of specific project requirements or challenging local conditions, Free The Children may provide additional funding to complete the project to meet our commitment to our beneficiaries.
