This year, throw a party in recognition of children who have never had the chance to celebrate their birthdays.
Across the globe, there are millions of children who don’t know when they were born and never get to celebrate their birthdays. These young people are denied their basic human rights because they were never registered at birth. They’re known by development professionals as “invisible” because their governments don’t have any official record of their existence.
The Celebrate for Change campaign lets you celebrate the birthdays of these invisible children while you celebrate your own. You throw a party that raises awareness about these children and raises funds for Free The Children’s Adopt a Village program, which makes their lives better.
There are two different ways to participate in Celebrate for Change:
1. Get together with friends at school or with your community group and throw a general celebration for Adopt A Village.
2. Throw a special Celebrate for Change party for your own birthday.
Whichever option you choose, Free The Children sends you a party kit with party invitations, activity ideas and a colourful wall poster to track your awareness and fundraising progress.

Siblings Team Up for a Memorable Celebration
“Halfway across the world, children don’t get presents. I’d rather get a donation. We want to try to help people in third world countries.” That’s why 11-year-old change-maker Brennan Wong joined Celebrate for Change. “My 10th birthday last year was my most memorable so far. I realized that I could turn ordinary birthday parties into something meaningful by asking friends and relatives to donate to Free The Children instead of bringing gifts.”
