Educators are our strongest ally in creating sustainable change through education. In fact, we simply couldn't do it without you. At Free The Children, we work with you to create a curriculum based on social justice, global citizenship and youth empowerment. All the information in this section is designed to help you bring global issues and the spirit of volunteerism into your classrooms in a way that's accessible and engaging for your students.

Within the In The Classroom section, you'll find a tried and true social justice curriculum as well as creative and journalistic programs that build a bridge between your classroom and today's global movement for social justice and sustainable development.

Community Mapping

Community mapping creates a different kind of map that tells a rich, detailed story about life in your hometown. The main focus of a community map is identifying assets: the special resources a community has. On top of these community assets, community maps also identify individual assets—the things community members are really good at, like public speaking, drawing or organizing events.

The Action Group put on The Festival of Sound and a "Be The Change" conference featuring Craig Kielburger, raising funds and awareness for an Alternative Income project to create sustainable community development.

Angelo Patri School

Not only did this group of middle-schoolers pull off a successful Carnival fundraiser, but across the school students are benefitting from "community" that the program has created.
