Sustainable Solutions
Poverty, disease and contaminated water affect millions of lives every minute of every day. These are just a few of the world’s most pressing problems, and we need to find solutions. But we don’t need a quick fix: we need solutions that are sustainable, solutions that will hold up over time.
In this issue of Voices International, we explore sustainable solutions on three levels. First, in Your Issues, we identify the problems that need solving by exploring issues of disease and contaminated water. Second, we explore actions being taken to overcome these problems, like McMaster University students’ 21 km run for clean water. Finally, we discuss ways to support work already being done to solve these problems, like by electing new youth members to Free The Children’s Board of Directors!
As your school year begins to wind down, make sure your group plans for sustainability. Choose new leaders for next year, start developing action plans and begin brainstorming fresh ideas for change. This will help your group stay strong, stable and sustainable as you continue creating a world that’s full of peace, not problems.
Keep your passion burning,
The Youth Programming Team
