This February, students from across North America are gearing up for the Vow of Silence campaign. On March 1st—less than two weeks from now—youth will stand up for the impoverished and exploited children of the world by remaining silent for 24 hours. Check out the “Just in” section of this newsletter for more information to help you get started.
Youth are also speaking out on global issues through journalism! As Junior Journalists for The Toronto Star newspaper, youth from Canada and the United States will be speaking out on issues that are important to them by writing articles, creating podcasts, producing videos and more. Keep your eye on The Toronto Star (www.thestar.com) and the Free The Children website (www.freethechildren.com) for further developments.
In January, Craig Kielburger was nominated for the World Children’s Prize, also known as the “Children’s Nobel Prize.” This is an incredible honour for Craig and Free The Children, and it’s an incredible opportunity for you to have your voice heard by voting for the winner! To register to vote, visit www.childrensworld.org/page.html. To read more about Craig’s nomination, visit the “Recent News” section on the homepage of the Free The Children website: www.freethechildren.com.
All of us at the Free The Children office are amazed every day by your actions. We would love to hear what you’re up to and share your actions with others through our newsletter and website. Please email us anytime with updates and pictures.
Keep up the amazing work, and always remember the power that you have to change the world!
With happiness and hope for the future,
The Youth Programming Team
