Be a voice for the voiceless
121 million primary school-aged children around the world have been silenced; they have been calling out for an opportunity to go to school, but their voices are falling on deaf ears. Meanwhile, 218 million children worldwide are forced to go to work every day instead of getting an education. And a staggering 300,000 young boys and girls are involved in armed conflict, unable to raise their voices for a better life.
With so many voiceless children in the world, it’s up to us to speak up for them. Share these issues with your friends and family, hold an assembly at your school about children’s rights or ask your teacher to teach a class about the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Better yet, take the Vow of Silence with Free The Children. On the first Friday in March, let your silence speak to the world by joining thousands of other young people who will be silent for 24 hours in solidarity with voiceless children worldwide. However you decide to do it, spread the word and make your voices heard!
In solidarity,
The Youth Team
