Just In

Hey world-shakers and news-makers!

We are so excited to tell you about a new program that is coming your way.

On March 30th, Free The Children will launch a joint initiative with The Toronto Star, Canada’s largest daily newspaper. The program will feature a bi-weekly column by Craig and Marc Kielburger that highlights relevant social justice issues.

And this is only the beginning…
This exciting project also gives youth an opportunity to share their views on issues they feel passionate about. A new interactive section on The Toronto Star’s website will host the articles written by youth. Anyone can take part, and this a great way for you and your friends to take a stand and show the world that we are a generation of engaged, active, and committed citizens.

Special resources for educators!
The Kielburgers’ bi-weekly column will be accompanied by curriculum and lesson plans for educators. Please feel free to download them from The Toronto Star’s website and share them with your students.

Adopt a Village Updates

The Adopt a Village campaign is now active in hundreds of schools across the United States and Canada! Entire school boards are even getting involved, from Ontario all the way to British Columbia.

Many of the schools I have visited are not only raising money for the campaign, but learning about the culture of the countries. At one Toronto school involved in the Adopt a Village campaign in China, the students held multicultural days to educate their peers about Chinese culture. Moreover, the educators also got involved and each class studied different aspects of Chinese culture. It is this global connection that Adopt a Village campaign is all about!

Peace Out,

Jason
