Hey Youth Leaders,
Welcome to a wonderful November!
Congratulations to everyone who participated in our annual Halloween for Hunger campaign! We have received many reports from Youth in Action Groups across North America who had a great time while helping local food banks .Please send us any pictures or stories that you might have from Halloween night. Thanks to your hard work, we are one step closer to ending hunger in our local communities.
While it is always a shame to see October go, taking with it the last drops of colour from the trees as well as the final traces of warmth, November certainly holds its own as an exciting month! Check out these three reasons why:
First is what arrived this November at the Free The Children office: Adopt a Village: Alternative Income posters! Display your poster of the village in a central place to motivate, educate and inspire anyone who sees it. Then sell the goats, cows, pigs and sewing machine stickers and add them to your poster. When the poster is filled with animals and sewing machines, your group will have raised enough money to implement alternative income projects for an entire village! Check out “Just In” for more information.
Second, it’s time to start planning your Holiday fundraisers to support your Adopt a Village campaign. Check out our 101 fundraising ideas for some great holiday fundraising ideas – or use your creativity and see the unbelievable things that can happen! Make sure to fill out the event information form and let us know how the event went.
Last, but certainly not least, sign-ups are now open for the Take Action! Academy 2006! Through this amazing week-long leadership experience, you will learn about important social issues, develop the skills to enable you to take action on those issues, and meet other youth that share your concerns. Check out the “Trips Updates” section of the newsletter for more information!
You have already accomplished so much this year already, but it pales in comparison with what you WILL achieve in the coming months!
Keep your passions burning strong,
The Youth Programming Team
