What does it take to change someone’s life forever?

Through the new YouthZone Groups online, Free The Children is connecting youth to youth for social change

You can join the Free The Children online community by creating your own group website.

YouthZone Groups is a web-based meeting space where you can keep track of your Youth in Action Group members, upload pictures, exchange ideas, post news and share tips and successes with other Free The Children groups around the world. It’s fun to track your group’s progress and to check in with other groups and hear all of their cool ideas. The possibilities are endless!

Two Free The Children Youth in Action Group leaders—Bridget from Sackville, New Brunswick and Julie from Fonthill, Ontario—tried out YouthZone Groups and told us what they thought.

Julie sees potential both for herself and for her group. “It combines what I like to do—taking pictures and meeting new people—with helping others through Free The Children,” she says. “Also, my group is in the middle of nowhere, so it could help people in my area to find out about my group and the stuff we’re organizing, like conferences and concerts.”

Bridget looks forward to connecting with others. “I’m really excited to see what other groups are doing and to get great ideas for fundraisers and events,” she says. “It can be motivating, too. If you connect and see 100 other groups working toward ending child labour and doing fundraisers, then it makes you feel part of a network and know that you’re not alone.”

All groups registered as a Youth in Action Group or for a Free The Children campaign or project are eligible to be a part of YouthZone Groups. Not registered? Sign up now!
