Summer 2005

On July 21, 2005 Craig Kielburger was awarded the Community of Christ International Peace Award at the International Youth Forum.

The forum brought together an electric group of youth ages 15-18 from all around the world. Delegates from Europe, Hawaii, French Polynesia, Australia, United States and Canada came together to discuss their shared goal of achieving peace throughout our world. The spirit, the energy and the enthusiasm of the youth strongly reinforced the idea that youth can not only make a difference, but that change is possible in the very near future

.

Cheers and whistles resounded  throughout the Community of Christ auditorium as Craig accepted the International Peace Award. When Craig challenged the students to “riot for good”, to take a stand for the issues that they feel passionate about and to know that they are more than capable of evoking a change in the way our world functions, there were thunderous applause. This conference illustrated that peace is possible, and that we are the generation that will bring about monumental change!

Community of Christ Peace and Justice Ministries Coordin ator Andrew Bolton said, "Craig is the youngest recipient of the Community of Christ International Peace Award. We believe he will inspire young people at IYF, showing how they too can make a difference in our troubled world when they go back home."

Congratulations Craig!
