School’s out for summer!

Happy Summer, Peace Builders!

School is out and there is now one month left of summer vacation. Everywhere you look you can see people enjoying the warm weather and basking in the sunshine (or rain, in some areas). And with the freedom of summer holidays comes the perfect opportunity to devote some time to getting active in your neighbourhood, community or even internationally.

Your Youth in Action Group may be on hiatus, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop creating positive change in the world around you. Young people all over are continuing to be the change as the summer goes on. Hundreds of young people will be attending Take Action! Academies this summer from coast to coast in Canada, where they will learn about the Millennium Development Goals and expand their leadership skills. Others will be travelling all over the world to volunteer in rural communities and experience international development first-hand.

So why not spend the rest of the summer finding your passion? Volunteer at your local homeless shelter or throw a Celebrate for Change party to raise awareness and funds for Free The Children! And read on to hear about what other amazing young people have done to affect change, both inside and outside their school’s walls! Watch out, because this month the Free The Children youth have taken over the newsletter!

Peace out!
