If we’re going to change the world, we’ve got to start here in North America. Changing attitudes. Changing priorities. Changing the way we think about our world.

O Ambassadors is now a Free The Children program!

Free The Children is proud to have worked with Oprah’s Angel Network on the O Ambassadors program for the past three years. The 2009-2010 year marks a new stage in our relationship. Thanks to the generous seed funding provided by Oprah’s Angel Network since 2006, and Free The Children’s successful implementation, the O Ambassadors program will now fully transition to Free The Children.

It has been very exciting to see the program grow and Free The Children is pleased to now assume the sole responsibility for operations. The involvement of both organizations in this program has been meaningful because it aligns with our respective missions. Because the Angel Network’s role is not to own program efforts, but to find a great match for its mission, the program will continue under the umbrella of Free The Children’s long-established domestic programming.

Our success

Since the program began in 2006, almost 2,000 O Ambassadors Clubs joined the program from schools across 47 states in the United States as well as all 10 provinces and two territories in Canada. Of these, about two-thirds are resource-poor schools.

More than $1.1 million was raised to support development initiatives around the world. The O Ambassadors program stands as a shining example of our shared belief in the power of young people to change the world.
