Free The Children has a remarkable record of achievement, initiating grassroots development projects around the world. Since 1995, we have: |
- Built more than 500 schools, providing education to more than 50,000 children every day
- Distributed more 207,500 school and health kits sent to children in need
- Shipped US$15 million dollars in essential medical supplies to 40 countries
- Developed an efficient administrative model that allows 91 cents of every donated dollar to go to programs that directly benefit children
- Implemented alternative income projects helping more than 23,500 women
- Helped 138,500 people by providing access to clean water and improved sanitation
Awards and Recognition
- Awarded the 2006 World Children's Prize for the Rights of the Child, also know as the Children's Nobel Prize
- Received the 2006 Human Rights Award from the United Nations/World Association of Non-Government Organizations (WANGO)
- Received the 2007 Skoll award for social entrepreneurship
- Nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize
