We Day Registration Guidelines
Extra seats
Demand for We Day tickets is extremely high. As a result, we are forced to maintain a strict seat limit per school. We are unable to offer any extra tickets and there is no waiting list.
Seating
Tickets available for purchase are in a designated public seating section. This means that, unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate individuals who wish to purchase tickets and sit with a particular school group.
Registration deadlines
The deadline for registration is May 1, 2009, and the confirmation deadline is September 11, 2009. Schools that do not meet the deadlines will risk losing their tickets.
Multiple registrations from one school
Due to the high demand for tickets, only one group per school may register for tickets.
Teachers changing schools
If the teacher that registers a group changes schools, the seats remain allocated to the school that was originally registered. Please ensure that a new educator is designated as a primary contact for the group, and will escort the students to the event.
Commitment to change
We Day is a one-day event, full of energy and inspiration. But it’s also meant to launch a movement that generates real social change, starting locally and then spreading internationally. To achieve this goal, each school group attending the event makes a commitment to follow a year-long program for change. This will include taking action in their own community, as well as supporting an overseas project through Free The Children’s Adopt a Village program. Schools that do not make a commitment to change can still attend, but ticket priority will be given to schools that have.
Technical difficulties
If you received a verification e-mail after completing the registration process, your request for tickets has been received. After June 1, 2009, Free The Children’s Event Team will be in touch to let you know if your school has received seats to We Day 2009.
If you did not receive a verification e-mail, contact either wedaytoronto@freethechildren.com or wedayvancouver@freethechildren.com.
Teacher/student ratio
The number of tickets requested in the registration process includes any educators. We cannot provide extra tickets to educators who fail to take this into account when registering. Each school must have at least one educator present, but we highly recommend two. Since seating is allocated by school (and not by board), it is especially important for an educator to be registered with each school.
Supply codes and transportation
Free The Children does not provide supply codes or transportation. Please contact your school board or school administration.
We Day Hamilton
We Day Hamilton is only available to schools in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. Since they have access to this special event, Hamilton schools are ineligible for the Toronto We Day.
