Adopt a Village: Education

At Free The Children, we believe that education enhances lives and gives children the power to change their destinies. That’s why education is the cornerstone of Adopt a Village, our holistic development model. Thanks to your support to date, we’ve built over 500 schools in 16 countries, providing education to more than 50,000 children each day.

In partnership with communities in Kenya, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, China and India, we’re working to eliminate the obstacles that prevent children from accessing education.

Our educational programming includes:

  • School-building
  • Provision of required educational material
  • Teacher capacity building
  • Quality educational programming

To ensure the sustainability of all our projects, we customize these initiatives to fit each community’s culture, environment and special circumstances. With your support, we offer children hope for a brighter future.

Meet Jingjing

“My happiest memory is the day I knew the new school would be built at my village . . . The old school is very poor and dangerous. My father helped to build the new school and he is very happy. I study very hard and I want to be the best student at the new school.”

- Jingjing Zhao, Gansu Province, China
