Poverty and violence are on the rise in Toronto, especially among underserved populations. The GO Local program, a Free The Children leadership initiative, will be offered free-of-charge to resource-poor schools with high immigrant populations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Through four unique program facets—a motivational speaking tour, leadership training, social justice and networking events—students will learn about social issues and develop skills that enable them to make a difference. It’s leadership at its best: youth effecting positive change for themselves, their communities and the world.
