Disney Friends for Change

Taking action in India and at home.

The Disney Friends for Change program and Free The Children have joined together to create change both at home and overseas. This summer, Disney Friends for Change Ambassadors Debby Ryan (‘Jessie’), Bella Thorne and Zendaya (‘Shake It Up’), and Ross Lynch and Laura Marano (‘Austin & Ally’) will encourage kids and families to make a lasting, positive change by helping people, communities and the planet throughout the summer as they volunteer and inspire kids of all ages to lead.

In May, Debby Ryan travelled to and volunteered in India with Free The Children, where she helped build a new school for Lai Gow, a local community. Though far from the comforts of her home in Los Angeles, Debby embraced the experience with open arms while taking on temperatures that soared over 100F! From touring the classrooms built by Free The Children and playing with the kids at the school, to pumping water with local villagers and learning local songs and dances, it was clear this experience deeply impacted Debby and left her asking herself: ‘How can I continue to make a difference?’ On June 29, Debby Ryan shared this personal experience on the Disney Channel. Check back later this summer to find out how Bella and Zendaya got involved.

Disney Friends for Change is a global initiative that inspires kids and their families to make a lasting, positive change by helping people, communities and the planet. Through on-air PSAs, online action kits and over $5 million in grants to support projects in neighbourhoods around the world, Friends for Change provides useful resources to encourage kids and families to take action and make a difference. To date, Friends for Change kids in 55 countries around the world have taken almost five million actions. To learn more, visit www.disney.com/friends
